Warns you on entering regions with ratings you dislike - or allows RLV control!
The Bright Ratings Censor will warn you when you enter a region with a rating you prefer to avoid. Choose those ratings you consider "good", and if you teleport, fly, or walk across a border into a "bad" region, you will be notified, and offered a teleport link to your chosen "safe place".
Anyone can use it to avoid accidentally straying into an unsuitably rated region. Perhaps you dislike adult regions, but on using a shop landmark you find yourself in one by accident. Your censor will warn you, and offer you a teleport link so that with one click you are returned to your safe place. Or perhaps you have an overtly sexual avatar, and wish to avoid either shocking the residents of "general" (formerly PG) rated regions, or inadvertantly breaking their rules. Again, the censor will let you know if you unexpectedly find yourself in a non-adult region.
You can even allow another avatar to impose these restrictions on you by choosing a "Controller". If you are a BDSM or power-exchange "bottom" or "submissive", you can allow your "top" or "Dom/me" to choose acceptable ratings - for instance, by restricting your movement solely to adult areas. Or if you have a child avatar, a parent or guardian may choose to forbid you to venture anywhere except general areas of the grid. Your controller will be notified if you visit a bad region, if you fail to leave, or if you remove your censor.
If you are using a "Restrained Love Viewer" or RLV, appointing a controller "locks" your censor, making it impossible to remove, and instead of issuing warnings, *automatically* teleports you out of bad areas.
So whether you wish to use it simply to warn you against locations you dislike, or allow power over your movement to another avatar in role-play, the censor offers some control over where you are taken by the bewildering mixture of landmarks, teleport offers, and region border crossings most Second Lifers experience every day.
The Bright Ratings Censor is provided with copy and trans rights - use it yourself, or give it to your subs, your children, your friends, anyone :)
To unpack, drag the object "Bright Ratings Censor boxed" from your inventory onto the ground. Right-click the box, click "Open" to display its contents window, and click the "Copy To Inventory" button at the bottom.
This will create a new folder in your inventory. Inside this folder, right-click the object "Bright Ratings Censor" and click "Wear".
You will not be able to see it: the censor is a tiny, invisible prim. By default, it attaches to your left shoulder, but you can attach it anywhere - to choose a different place, instead of "Wear", try "Attach To" or even "Attach To HUD".
You will see the following start up messages...

Ready for use: say '/1 BRC' (without the quotes) to access the settings menu!
---
In your chat box, type '/1 BRC' (*without* the quotes - in upper or lower case) and the following menu will appear...
---
Safe place: Mizar/32/32/2001 (General)
Controller: Jane Doe
General: GOOD, Moderate: GOOD, Adult: GOOD
RLV detected: YES
[Safe place] [Controller]
[General] [Moderate] [Adult]
---
Safe place: When you wear your censor for the first time, it will record your position as your "safe place" - and if you enter a bad region, you will be offered a teleport link to get back there. Click this button to reset your safe place to your current position: your censor will reset, but this only takes a few seconds. Note that the rating of your safe place is automatically considered "good".
General, Moderate & Adult: Click these buttons to switch these ratings between "good" and "bad". Note that you cannot set the rating which corresponds to your safe place to "bad".
Controller: Click it to choose a controller from people standing nearby (see below).
A "controller" is another avatar to whom you grant control of your Bright Ratings Censor.
Having done so, you will lose control of your censor's settings: only your controller will be able to change them. Your controller will be notified if you visit a bad region, if you fail to leave within 60 seconds, and if you remove your censor.
Additionally, if you select a controller while using an RLV enabled viewer, you will be unable to remove it, and you will be *automatically* teleported to your safe place if you enter a region your controller considers bad. If this automatic teleport fails (because, say, your safe region is down), you will be asked to leave within 60 seconds manually - if you fail to do so, your controller will again be notified.
The only way to remove your censor if you have chosen a Controller is to use a non-RLV viewer - though do remember that your controller will be notified if you do so.
To choose a controller, click the "Controller" button on the menu described above. You will be offered a list of avatars standing within 20m (chat range) of you, a little like this...
----------
[1] Shan Bright [2] Philip Linden
[3] dragonface Resident
[1] [2] [3]
----------
Clicking one of these buttons will cause a menu to appear on *their* screen...
----------
Jane Doe is offering you control over the ratings of the regions they may visit. Would you like to accept?
[Yes] [No]
----------
If they click "Yes", you and they will see the following message...
dragonface Resident now controls Jane Doe's ratings censor. Type '/1 BRC' to access its menu.
As this explains, the controller can access your menu at any time by saying "/1 BRC" within your hearing - within 20m, or 100m if they shout. When they do, they will see a menu like this...
----------
Safe place: Mizar/32/32/2001 (General)
Controller: dragonface Resident
General: GOOD, Moderate: GOOD, Adult: GOOD
RLV detected: NO
[Safe place] [Release]
[General] [Moderate] [Adult]
----------
The "Release" button removes their control of your censor and returns it to you - but remember it will only appear on *their* menu. Having chosen a controller, if you say '/1 BRC' to access your menu, you will see the same information, but be offered only a single, functionless 'OK' button.
* Once you have chosen a controller, they will remain in control of your censor until they 'release' it.
* The only way to remove their control is to remove the censor and wear it again.
* If you are using RLV, and you have a controller, you will be unable to remove your censor: you will have to log in using a non-RLV viewer to do so.
